Jim Caviezel’s Passionate Plea – In This Watershed Moment, We Must Fight!

In This Watershed Moment, We Must Fight!

Dear Family (as my good friend, Fr. James Altman often says), if you are like me, you are seeing that we are facing a watershed moment. A watershed moment is a turning point, the exact moment that changes the direction of an activity or situation. A watershed moment is a dividing point, from which things will never be the same.

I happen to know that Jim Caviezel and Fr. Altman struck up a friendship this Summer. I’m sure Jim Caviezel is referring to the shocking uprising of evil, and the threat of evil’s complete control, in the interview (below), but I can’t help but believe he has seen Fr. Altman’s passionate plea in his video, and is joining ranks, as his battle buddy, to somehow, someway awaken all of us to what is at stake RIGHT NOW!!

Evil is advancing as never before, and the choices that are about to be made in terms of our next Supreme Court Justice and our next President will make or break our country for generations to come. Evil seems to know this more than we do, because evil is fighting harder than we are.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen wrote, “The refusal to take sides on great moral issues is itself a decision. It is a silent acquiescence to evil. The tragedy of our time is that those who still believe in honesty lack fire and conviction, while those who believe in dishonesty are full of passionate conviction.”

Jim Caviezel is sounding the alarm bells and, like Fr. James Altman, is pleading with all of us, especially our spiritual leaders, to stop appeasing evil and courageously stand against the cancel culture bullies and FIGHT for everything that is good and holy and right!!

In a Fox and Friends interview, this past Saturday morning, Jim Caviezel breaks into a passionate Altman-like oration that seems to BEG all of us to consider the gravity of this moment in history, and refuse to surrender, but rather to FIGHT!

This part of the interview began with a quote from Ronald Reagan …

“You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children’s children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.”

Jim Caviezel then begins his powerful plea …

“He (Ronald Reagan) said there is one guaranteed way you can have peace, and you can have it have it in the next second – Surrender … Every lesson in history tells us that the greater risk lies in appeasement and this is the specter our well-meaning Christian liberal friends, our priests, bishops, and pastors refuse to face, that their policy of accomodation is appeasement and it gives us no choice between peace and war, only between fight and surrender. If we continue to accomodate, continue to [move] back and retreat we will have to face the final demand, the final ultimatum and what then?…

Voices pleading for peace at any price, or ‘better Red than dead,’ or as one commentator put it he would rather live on his knees than die on his feet and therein lies the road to war because those voices do not speak for the rest of us.

You and I know and do not believe that life is so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery. If nothing in life is worth dying for, when did this begin? Just in the face of this enemy? Or should Moses have told the children of Israel to live in slavery under the Pharoh’s? Should Christ have refused the cross? Should the patriots at Concord Ridge have refused to fire the shot heard around the world?

The martyrs of history were not fools and our beloved dead who gave their lives to stop the advance of the Nazis did not die in vain. Where then lies the road to peace? Well, it’s a simple answer after all, that you and I have the courage to tell our enemies, there is a price we will not pay and there is a point beyond which evil must not advance. In the words of Ronald Reagan, ‘Evil is powerless if the good are unafraid.’”
